We're More than Art

This studio is very much yours. While I hold it for us all, the space belongs to the people who fill it.  Each class has its own energy, its own dynamic.

This week I subbed in for one of our teachers and met some of you who I might not otherwise, was able to dip my toe into the experience created by all of you together with our instructors.  Sometimes I get to be there when the littlest of our studio show-off their Grecian urns.  Sometimes I get to be there the moment when a new potter finally feels what centering clay is and the light bulb turns on.  Magic, pure magic.

Last week, adults were in the room making pots side by side when tricky and challenging topics-of-our-day came up. With patience, understanding, and varying experience we treaded lightly, talked through nuance. We are dynamic people with always unique backgrounds bringing sometimes surprising perspective to the studio and the conversations that organically arise.

I’d like to say we’re solving the world’s problems while our hands are working clay into fabulous forms, but that’s unlikely.  What we are doing, what you all are doing, is creating a space where reasonably people can talk through nuance, toss in some personal experience, and oftentimes wonder at each other’s wisdom.  Some fabulous creative work comes out also!

Create is an open and creative art studio, of course. Really though, this is a community.  We’re people with sometimes little more than a creative urge, but with a spark along with a lifetime of experience.

We’d love to have you join us.
