No class November 23

Wednesdays 6 - 7.30

A story happens everyday. You go to the grocery store and run into a stranger or an old friend. You stay home and watch TV, and find your mind drifting to moments from your past. Life is a story, and writing Personal Essays is the art of making meaning of those stories, and putting them on the page. In this class, we will practice that art, and lean on published pieces that demonstrate the key elements of this craft, like creating scenes, developing characters, and selecting a structure.

Adults Only

In addition to writing and performing her own stories, Theresa also teaches storytelling and writing workshops and classes, coaches other tellers, hosts story slams, and frequently emcees events for nonprofits. An alum of both the Memoir Incubator and Essay Incubator programs at GrubStreet, she is working on a memoir of essays about memory, family stories, and the death of her father.
